Butterkist Gingerbread Popcorn Review

I've become a lot more fond of popcorn as of late mainly due to all the interesting new flavour combinations available. One of my favourites has to be Butterkist toffee popcorn, I mean it’s unbelievable macro destructive so cannot remember the last time I ate it. However was feeling festive in Tesco and in keeping with my purchasing of gingerbread products for the week I couldn't not pick up gingerbread popcorn!

Upon opening there was absolutely no scent of anything vaguely cinnamon or ginger as described and when checking the ingredients it became apparent that these two what I deemed pivotal ingredients in gingerbread aren't in fact in the product… not off to a great start Butterkist.

The first piece I tried had absolutely no flavour at all, just sweet so I persevered until I got anything gingerbread like. Unfortunately I found the flavour just very strange, yes it is ginger but due to the lack of any real ginger in there it just doesn't quite taste right. The flavour was also very inconsistent across the kernels with some being laden with this weird artificial ginger and some just sweet popcorn.

I feel if actual cinnamon and ginger would have been used this would have been an incredibly good popcorn. Why Butterkist chose to use some random flavouring instead is beyond me and has pretty much ruined the product in my opinion, so much so I actually threw the rest of the bag away.

  1. I am actually interested to try this after this review. (I had it anyway) but if it is like that I will attack it haha.
